As we bid farewell to 2023, it’s time to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve had over the past year. From achieving new milestones to fostering a great workplace and contributing significantly to the WordPress ecosystem, 2023 has been a year of growth, collaboration, and unforgettable experiences.

7 Years of Awesomeness

Our journey started seven years ago on July 01 with a small team of WordPress lovers. We have come a long way from that small team but our Core values remain unchanged, like our enthusiasm for WordPress and dedication to spreading happiness. We have made a name for ourselves in the WordPress community with our contributions and a handful of products.

Great Place to Work Certified

In 2023, we achieved another milestone in our journey – we got certified Great Place To Work® Certified™ in India (from June 2023 to June 2024). We did it in style with a whopping overall Trust Index© score of 97%! Our commitment to a positive work culture, employee well-being, and excellence shines through. Our employees receive the best perks in the industry, including free health insurance, maternity/paternity leave, and annual paid vacation, and it’s their satisfaction that powers all our achievements. 

Awsm & WordPress 

Awsm came into existence due to our love for WordPress and with the passage of time, it has only grown. We now devote the first Thursday afternoon of every month for #WPHackathon, where we contribute to our favorite CMS. We contribute to Core, Documentation, Polyglots and Testing teams. 

Core Contributions

Last year saw an impressive list of core contributors from our team in all releases – 8 for WP 6.2, 6 for WP 6.3 and an impressive 11 for WP 6.4. Jyolsna J E also made it to the Release Cohort of WP 6.4. 

Five for the Future 

Currently Awsm is sponsoring 17 contributors across seven teams. That’s 85% of the team is contributing to WordPress! We are also donating to the WordPress Foundation. 

WordCamps

We love getting together with fellow WordPress enthusiasts. We had a great time attending WordCamp Asia 2023 and WordCamp Bengaluru, helping organize WordCamp Kerala, and sponsoring WordCamp Mumbai and Trivandrum meetup.

Our Products

Our products are doing well and our users are happy. WP Job Openings plugin crossed 30k Active Installations and continuously received 5-star ratings from our users. In 2023, this amazing plugin turned 5! 

We also launched our much-awaited addon for WP Job Openings – Job Alerts that can effortlessly send daily email notifications to subscribers whenever new job openings are published on your WordPress website.

WP-Content.co 

2023 was a fantastic year for our blog. We have cemented our place among the top WordPress blogs. We got selected as the Media partner for WordCamp Asia 2024 and recently published Newsletter #150. 

We introduced the WP Week Podcast for our readers too busy to read the newsletter. It has been a hit among our readers and is doing well now. 

Meetups 

True to tradition, we met up at regular intervals. Our first meetup was at Vagamon, a hill station. We celebrated our seventh anniversary at Kumarakom and Onam at Trivandrum. Our annual grand meetup was at Ooty. These meetups help nurture the bond of our remote team. 

Our Clients 

We are adamant about giving the best to our clients and they have remained with us through all these years. We don’t have a marketing department and word of mouth has been working too well for us. This year we got to partner for some incredible projects, including Medinous, Pratithi Investments, IamHere, CNBC Africa, Hume Place and Neufin. 

Our clients have always been very supportive and we look forward to associating with them for more challenging projects. 

Planning for 2024

We have so many dreams and plans for 2024. We won’t be resting on our laurels. We plan to attend and organize several WordCamps. We are researching more benefits for our team. We will also play a more active role in the WordPress community and contribute to improving the opensource software.
